C. WILLIAMS
Shelton C. "Mike" Williams specializes in the defense of civil litigation.
A third generation Montanan, Mr. Williams graduated with an A.B. degree in English Literature from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, in 1963. At the University of Montana School of Law, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Montana Law Review. He received his J.D. degree cum laude in 1966.
Mr. Williams worked as a law clerk on the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco before returning to Missoula, where he has practiced law since 1967. He taught courses in "Insurance Law" and "Remedies" as an adjunct professor at the University of Montana School of Law. He served on the Board of Directors of the Montana Bar Association and the Board of Trustees of the State Bar of Montana. He was President of the Montana Young Lawyers Association and President of the Montana Association of Defense Counsel. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the International Association of Defense Counsel. He holds the rank of Advocate with the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is actively engaged in the defense of complex civil litigation, including insurance bad faith, catastrophic personal injury and professional liability cases.
